MYGroup has become a patron of the British Beauty Council (BBCo), making it the first waste management and recycling company to join the organisation.
MYGroup is long-established in the health, beauty and cosmetics recycling space, with schemes currently running in collaboration with many of the BBCo’s existing patrons, including Boots, Elemis, Estee Lauder, Johnson & Johnson, Superdrug and THG’s Cult Beauty and LOOKFANTASTIC.
Joining the BBCo further reaffirms MYGroup’s commitment to supporting the beauty industry’s drive towards sustainability.
Becoming a patron of the Council will provide MYGroup with valuable opportunities to shape industry practices and participate in key campaigns and events, including the BBCo’s Sustainable Beauty Coalition, which champions industry collaboration to accelerate sustainable practices in the sector.
The company joins the BBCo shortly after the launch of the Sustainable Beauty Coalition’s ‘Great British Beauty Clean Up’ (GBBCU). MYGroup’s Recycle at Boots scheme, run nationwide in collaboration with Boots and technology partner, Metrisk, took centre stage at the launch of the GBBCU in Central London last week.
MYGroup’s simple, frictionless recycling schemes make it easy for consumers to drop off used health, beauty and cosmetics products that can’t go in kerbside collections. Millions of items considered ‘unrecyclable’ have been saved from landfill or incineration through these schemes to date, with MYGroup transforming them into new materials and products, such as MYboard™, used in the production of fittings and furniture.
MYGroup is honoured to join the British Beauty Council as its first patron waste management and recycling company. This is a natural next step for our leadership in the cosmetics recycling space and building on our industry collaborations, setting the standard for others to follow. We are ready to work arm-in-arm with the Council and its Sustainable Beauty Coalition, sharing our invaluable expertise and insight to help forge a sustainable future for the beauty sector.
Steve Carrie, Group Director, MYGroup
We are delighted that MYGroup is joining our growing network of Patrons. The collaboration only solidifies our – and other Patrons’ – commitment to promoting better practices when it comes to improving the circularity of products across the beauty industry. The partnership comes at the perfect time as we celebrate our inaugural ‘Great British Beauty Clean Up’ campaign, which sees MYGroup work with our existing network to enable and encourage consumers to increase what they recycle. We will engage and learn from MYGroup’s insights as we continue to promote increasingly sustainable practices for industry via cross-sector initiatives and government legislation.’
