As part of its ongoing global commitment to achieve zero waste by 2030, AkzoNobel has launched a new packaging recycling pilot scheme for its Dulux brand – the Dulux Tester Takeback initiative.
Launching this month, the Dulux Tester Takeback initiative will enable consumers to return used 30ml Dulux roller testers to select branches of B&Q, Homebase and Wickes stores across the UK. This activity is designed to encourage recycling and to make the process of decorating more sustainable.
The Dulux Tester Takeback initiative makes it simple for people to recycle the packaging of used Dulux roller testers by providing collection boxes in-store where the old tester can be dropped off. Working in partnership with MYGroup, the programme will use innovative waste management technology to give the used paint testers a second life and has the potential to save thousands of testers going to waste.
The roller testers will be processed and transformed into Storm Board – a recycled plastic alternative to plywood. Storm Board is made from 100% recycled materials, such as Dulux paint testers, and can be used to make outdoor furniture, compost bins, and even climbing walls.
We’re proud to be launching this pioneering pilot. We know from our successful and established paint tin recycling scheme in our Dulux Decorator Centres that these initiatives can make a significant impact to waste.
